whoops, almost locked myself out of my work computer trying to set up two-factor auth in PAM... Guess it's gonna be one of THOSE Wednesdays.

Feels so weird to be doing work stuff again after the 4-day easter weekend...

Whoops guess who forgot to configure and enable SMART reporting on his NAS when he built it months ago

Having one of those days when problems seemingly solve themselves while I'm busy poking at their code to add debug prints...

Ordered new NAS parts a week ago and they finally arrived.
SSD was dead on arrival.
Found a spare SSD at the bottom of one of my drawers.
It was also dead.
It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, and now at the end of it I'll just have to wait some more while I get this SSD returned and a new one shipped out.

Okay so sex is great but have you ever had a piece of software you wrote compile cleanly and work correctly on your first try?

hi cis friends! (if youre reading this while not being trans, thats you!!) the dk64 stream is over but you can still replicate the experience!!! heres how:

1. look at #TransCrowdFund here or on birdsite until you find someone with an active gofundme/ko-fi/paypal/etc. (this part should take about five seconds)
2. open the nearest window and stick your head out
3. shout TRANS RIGHTS into the void as you smash that donate button

its easy and it feels great to do!

Happy Holidays, Fediverse. Hope you all have a good time, wherever you are.

The last day at work before Christmas/New Years break feels JUST as weird as the last day at uni before Christmas/New Years break felt.

Well, happy birthday to me, I guess. Being an adult who lives alone definitely makes your own birthday feel a bit... sad? Underwhelming? Bland? Something like that.

When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,

"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes

I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."

Always nice when you're deploying a new website and the instructions from the developers who made most of it are not only out of date, but flat out don't work for the version of Drupal the website is built on...
